NOTE TO PARENTS FROM CHARLIE CAMPBELL: I'm writing this Dakota Knox series to strengthen and encourage teens in their Christian faith and to remind them of some of the reasons we trust the Bible. Some parents have been telling me that they're giving the books to their eight, nine, and ten-year-olds. I personally wouldn't. I recommend the books for ages thirteen and up. Why? There's no foul language in the books, but there is some violence, fighting, shootings, death, some talk about steering free of sexual sin (remaining a virgin until marriage), some romance and kissing, etc. So if you are not ready for your preteens to talk to you about these matters, I'd hold off on the books for another couple of years. Having said that, the feedback I'm getting from teens who've read the books has been overwhelmingly positive! To that, I say, "To God be the glory!"

    Enlightening and enjoyable

    Posted by S. L. on 5th Feb 2024

While I haven’t been a youth for quite awhile I nevertheless very much enjoyed the story. The characters, the setting, the interesting way archeological facts were presented and the awareness and reliance on the nearness of God all worked together to make the whole series engaging to read. I am looking forward to the 4th installment.

I loved this book because it keeps you on your toes, is edifying and family friendly, and drops some great truth nuggets throughout the story. I recommend this book for family reading, as well as for young teens and teenagers who are looking for good, clean, edifying books.

I picked it up to review and have in my library for youth books. I really enjoy the detailed descriptions of Israel locations and artifacts. Perfect book for middle school through high school age! The story engages the reader through historical events with a mystery crime solving twist. I loved the mention of author cameos.

    Grandson read it non-stop!

Posted by Gail on 4th Jan 2023

My grandson - who lives in Norway with his parents (church planting missionaries) . . . He has some reading issues but when we brought it to him on our last visit he took it and read it non-stop!! My son said he's never seen that before! He was 11 at the time, and when I mentioned there might be a slight romantic thread in it - he said he didn't mind that :)

My children and I loved Dakota Knox and the Archaeology Thief. We live in Southern California, so a lot of Charlie’s references were so neat to my children. I have a 16 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. They were able to relate to the characters. We love history, especially Bible history . . . Thank you for blessing us this summer!

    fast-paced, fact-packed, faith-building!

If you are craving edge-of-your-seat excitement, irresistible intrigue, imperfect ROLE models, a sprinking of romance and a whole lot of faith - all in factual fiction - look no further. This book is simply exquisite, sublime as a matter of fact. I loved how productive I felt learning things while enjoying myself as I breezed through this book in 1 day - I just COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! Charlie Campbell truly is remarkable at writing a relatable yet universal story, while keeping it short & spicy :) I was vastly impressed by the progression of the plot line, the depth of the characters.. I could go on and on. This book is one of a kind - perfect for a Christian (or nonChristian) teen like me looking for an exciting, educational, and fast read. Also, as a side note, I LOVE the little romance action Charlie added. It was the golden mean of not being too soon or mushy, but still sweet. Definitely one of the things I can't wait to read more of in Part 2! I'm rooting for them so hard (won't say names), but it's adorable. Thanks for reading this review; please order Dakota Knox and the Archaeology Thief - you won't regret it!
